Pendant ce temps

Pendant ce temps is a publishing structure created by Romain Philippon, a freelance photographer based on Reunion Island. Pendant ce temps’ first book photography book—Inconscience, le monde endormi—received the Audience Award at the RDVI Festival in Strasbourg in 2013. Dedicated to photography and putting this before financial goals, Pendant ce temps helps talented photographers publish their first book. Its structure works for without subsidy or sponsorship, and it uses crowdfunding to secure the funds for each book launch, to eradicate the need to deal with financial loans, while building a community around each book before its launch. Pendant ce temps believes that “to create is to resist, to resist is to create,” and so it believes that books should continue to be made, despite the financial complexities involved with publishing these kinds of projects. Pendant ce temps believes that photographers should take the time to create, and to see their work printed on paper, for eternity.
